Why we're getting behind Alastair Brogdon and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local hockey player, Alastair Brogdon as he attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Alastair currently plays for, and trains at Bowdon Hockey Club, which finished 5th in the UK Premier League last season. Alastair has 39 caps for England and four for Great Britain, with two major medals to his name - a 2009 Amsterdam European Championship gold and Champions trophy silver.

"It's tough trying to qualify for a place at the Olympic Games and it's a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 1 Series from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There's a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events, so it's great being able to arrive there in style."
